Tesco cans plans for Lewisham superstore

Tesco has sold 13 development sites across London, including its Lewisham plot, on which it had planned to expand its current superstore. The move is part of Tesco's retreat from large format stores and its need to repair its finances.

Asda opens on Deptford High Street

Asda has opened its new small-format store at 5-9 Deptford High Street. The opening is part of the chain's southern strategy and puts it head-to-head with Tesco further down the street. Asda plans another store opening in Lewisham.Full disclosure: Asda is a client of my employer.
